  • Samer Faraj

    Samer Faraj holds the Canada Research Chair (tier 2) in Technology, Management & Healthcare. He joined the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in 2007. Previously, he was associate professor at the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He received his doctorate in MIS from Boston University and holds an M.S. in Technology and Policy from MIT. Prior to his doctorate, he spent nine years working in a variety of IS and technology consulting roles.

    His current research interests include: how IT transforms work and the provision of health care, the coordination of expertise in settings such as trauma care and software development teams, and the participation dynamics of online knowledge communities.

    He is currently senior editor at Organization Science and co-edited a special issue of Organization Science on IT and organizational form and function (2007). He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of AIS and Information and Organization. He has served in a variety of other editorial roles and has received more than $2.8 million of grants funding including three NSF awards and a Fulbright senior scholar award. His work has appeared in journals such as Information Systems Research, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of AIS, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, and Information Technology& People.
